Environmental Initiatives
100% By-product Processing
Shells, cashew apples, husks, and press cake are all processed and commercialised — CNSL, briquettes, juice, animal feed, and compost. Nothing goes to landfill.
Solar Hybrid Energy
Solar PV system combined with a biomass boiler fuelled by cashew shells. The processing plant generates a significant portion of its own energy from its own waste stream.
Closed-Loop Water Recycling
Wastewater from steaming, washing, and cooling processes is treated and recycled within the plant's closed-loop system, dramatically reducing freshwater consumption.
Regenerative Agriculture
Outgrower farmers receive training in climate-smart, regenerative cashew farming practices — improving tree yields, reducing chemical inputs, and building soil carbon.
EPA Compliance
Continuous environmental compliance under Ghana's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. Digital emissions and effluent tracking maintained at plant level.
Social Impact
Outgrower Programme
SNL works with 5,000+ smallholder cashew farmers organised into cooperatives across the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions — Ghana's primary cashew belt. These farmers supply approximately 70% of SNL's annual raw cashew nut requirements.
Annual supply contracts include pre-agreed minimum farmgate prices — protecting farmer incomes against market volatility — with digital traceability linking every processed batch to its registered outgrower origin.
